Welp, dunno what kind of smartphone you got, but it does take really good pics.

But, if I can just have a nitpick : her headpiece being a flat black does look strange, IMO. I think that it could use just a drybrush of grey.

Speaking of which, can I ask a bit about paint problem?

You did say that acrylic spray can paint is good too. However, Tear's painted armor even though already couple of months, still reek of paint smell. Is something wrong?
1. Is that spray can is acrylic enamel based color? Enamel is very slowly dry and sometime you will feel sticky when you touch it (like some revoltech)

2. may be the color spray is not for plastics.

3. you spray too thick layer color.
All my painted figures, even some of my oldest ones dating back years, still have the faint paint smell. Keeping painted figures in enclosed spaces (display cabinets, etc.) can prolong the smell. Best to air out the figures and the places where you put them in every once in a while.

I've used a few different brands of acrylic spray paint but haven't had problems (except for the usual paint-it-but-didn't-like-how-it-turned-out-so-repainting-is-necessary kind of problem :P ). I just prefer acrylic epoxy (e.g. car paint) since it doesn't scrape off as much.

Good point... her headpiece and horns can use a bit of color.

And I use a local brand (MyPhone) with an 8 megapixel camera. Plus I prefer outdoor shots since flourescent lighting and my room's ambient light is terrible.

Nice work as always, but the more I look at her, Noire's Archdemon armor (both configs) just seem a little too cluttered. Maybe that's the point, but after the initial wow factor and going into the details, it just seems too big, too clunky and clusterhell for a Shinki - especially compared to most of your other mods. IMO.

Just thought I'd put my two cents in after taking in the visuals :)

Too big? Noire's head height is nearly the same as she is in her original armor (1 cm taller, blame those high heels :P ) except now her armor has much more mass plus much larger back equipment. At least all her parts have purpose and function, all the while looking cool. Besides, Strarf and Strarf Mk II armors are all about the tall height, mecha arms and badass weaponry. But hey, everyone's entitled to his and her opinion.

Now for those who don't like Japanese sites, or cannot open fg-site.net, here are some samples of my sources of inspiration when it comes to Strarf customs.

The key is harmony. I'll have to say Noire is lacking a bit of that. Some of the stuff on the back don't feel like they belong, specially the 2 things with the long gray connectors. Long connectors are always bad.
And the sword if too big and bright. Is that the MG? Try the HG.
If you're dual wielding huge swords, make it a pair, not completely different things. A pair doesn't have to be identical swords, but have a similar or complete opposite (good/bad, mangler/cutter...) feel and specially size.

On the other side, Laika is as cool as ever, and I really like that Miku. I've always wanted to make an armored Miku, but always thought figma or Shinki bodies wouldn't look as good as I'd want. figma bodies make for MS Girl-style stuff, and IMO Shinkis only look good as Shinkis. That Racaseal body is perfect. I thought it was too big, since the Chogokin is bigger and I thought they were the same size. Unless they ARE the same size and your choide of Gunpla parts did the trick in making her proportional. Time to rethink that "better Fei-Yin Miku" I had in mind.
Please tell me about the process of mixing Racaseal and Gunpla.

Okay, I get it... if you all have nitpicks about Noire, fine. Don't know why Noire keeps getting all the criticism about a bunch of things that the other girls don't, but just let me draw the line...

I LIKE HOW SHE LOOKS, DEAL WITH IT.

I don't criticize or say what I don't like or what I think is wrong with other people's work because that is their work. That's how they want their works to look. I understand, because I am a builder like them. And I build stuff to make them look the way I want them to look.

Reading stuff about the looks, color, structure and parts I used is one thing, but even how I pose my figures? Seriously?

Just so you know, I make stuff for my enjoyment, not just to satisfy what you want. They're my own personal works of art although they might look ridiculous to some you. I do try to take in everything as constructive criticism, but in the end, its all about people not liking something about what I built. Now I'm not asking for praise everytime a post a pic here. I post to show off what I built, to show off what I enjoy and what makes me happy, and I want people to see them. If you think that something in what I built is bad, sorry. Everyone is entitled to opinions I know, but do keep the negatives and nitpicks at a minimum... I, as a builder, get hurt you know.

A note to the mods: Please do forgive this rant, I just about had enough of dealing with a lot of things right now... I'm gonna take a break from posting and cool myself off for a while.

MOD EDIT: noted! Just think more througly about it before posting, no need to "to go up in flames" about such trivial things.

Hey, I'm not bashing, just giving some tips. It's the case of "it's awesome, with a but".
What I said is stuff that I trully belive would look pleasing to you, it's your figure not mine, if I didn't care, I wouldn't post.

And I didn't say anything about posing, you CAN pose, that's not an issue.

Now, please don't misinterpret my suggestions as bashing and tell me about the Koto bodies.

It's more of a cause of "It's awesome, but could be even more awesome" for me. Don't even think for an instant we're (or at least I am) not humbled by your custom. If I was able to do even a quarter of what you're doing with your own, I'd be happy :D

Zeroedge,

If I offended you, I am honestly sorry - I meant in no way to insult or belittle your work in any way, shape or form. I can't even imagine myself wanting to; you're my inspiration for kitbashing and modeling. All I wanted to say was compared to your other works, especially Noire's other equipment, this one just seemed to be too over designed.

I took fashion and design in my vocational school which I applied to my own mechanical designs; something I learned there was that using a lot of detail and flourishes can be the same as not enough - it overloads the senses and it detracts from the look. Most of the time, you're really good at avoiding that. Laika (best recent example IMO) and all the other girls have themes with their armor, and as much detail that you put into them, the design is still controlled, it's readily apparent what you're going for and it's appealing to others.

The Archdemon equipment on the other hand, at least to me seem over-designed. It's intimidating and the sheer scale of them is breathtaking (Dreadnaught reminds me of a killer METEOR unit), but there's so much going on there that it's hard to take it all in. I honestly can't tell exactly what you were going for other than 'let's see how much I can fit onto Noire,' and that kind of hurts the design to me.

Now, let me make one thing clear - this is just my opinion. You're free to like and love your own work as much as the next person - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. After taking all the time I've had for the mods and recolors for my Shinki, I can fully appreciate all the hard work (possibly involving blood, sweat and tears) that had to go into Noire's Archdemon equipment.

This is still the Internet though, and this site is dedicated to Shinki, for better or worse. There are going to be others with different opinions, and others that want to throw in their input to try and help designs stand out and be more awesome. I'm reminded of a line someone (Forgive me, I forget who) said in regards to how we 'reviewed' and discussed the TV show, from liking it to harping on it and thinking of explanations that it'd never touch.

We love Shinkis. This is what we do.

If you love your designs, that's great. I'd be worried if you didn't. And it's not like we don't either. We don't do this to make you angry or upset or attack you, we don't do this because we're player haters and are envious of your epic skills, we don't do this because we have nothing else to do. We do it because we love your work as much as we love Shinkis, and we want to help in making them even better. All we want to do is help.

I don't know what's going on at your end, if there's anything that we can help you with or what not, but just know we're just trying to help, okay?

-Mobius.

Had a lot of catching up to do again, and ZeroEdge, let me tell you... your customizing skills are absolutely freaking AWESOME!!! I absolutely love Noir's new look and armor configurations, and I'm totally in love with Ayu's new look/armor, with the same can be said to your Yuuko, Griselda, and oh gosh I can't remember the name you give to your Zielbellen, but she looks great! Oh, and Kei's new paint scheme and armor also rocks!

Sorry that everyone seems to criticize Noir's new looks, but as you said... it's your Shinki, you can do whatever you want with them. I hope you do come back and show more of your awesome work, because I do enjoy looking at your customizations.
