Holy...

That's some wicked mechanical illustration. Did you... did you draw that yourself? At any rate, that is going to be one helluva ambitious project. Godspeed!

/me salutes you.

The M1A1 Abrams striker is from that Gelbooru site mentioned earlier from the guy who is doing that fan project called Strike Witches: 1991 Gulf Neuroi War. I resized the gun to scale and everything else is mine. Update to come later tonight.

isn't a wooden cannon a bit heavy for a shinki? it looks really good either way!

if it's balsa it would probably not be much heavier than an equivalent plastic cannon.

Howling won't be holding the cannon solo. According to the drawings, there is a piece that holds the cannon onto the skirt armor on the right leg. I cannot build any of that yet until my treads come in. Either way, the cannon might have a bi-pod that allows sniping. I still need to design and make that.

Well, that explains the Japanese text. Still, your derivative design of that gun is still quite impressive. I'm really looking forward to the final product!

Bipod is a must: The original design calls for a very set striker unit. From my own experiences designing powered armor and landstriker-ish gears, you'll also need counterweights on the opposite side of the landstriker, additional support contacts on the gun and heavy weights attached to the feet. Unless you're using aluminum or brass for the pivot joint, that's a lot of stress load on such a small mass...

...Speaking from an engineering/mechanical point of view, that is. If we go by Rule of Cool, a bipod would suffice.

And I've just realized you're using cardboard for the mag. I'd make a paper cartridge joke, but alas it's no cartridge...

From the designs, the back of the thighs has what look like vents and stowage. I need to find where I has stash the 2nd mag.
