I don't see how you could hate Konami for doing Shinki repaints but not GSC for doing three versions of Haruhi or Konata.

Yes, Konami are really fecking slow with their new stuff. Boo. But the repaints/different variant thing is so common it's hard to get upset about it.

(Also, i think shinki's are probably aimed at a slightly different market segment than figma. "Wins the game", eh. )

I don't "hate" Konami (Lil pissed yes) just disappointed that nothing is getting done and there is nothing but boring repaints, it would be nice to have repaints and at least ONE new different Shinki. A year of waiting for the new MMS 3rd bodies. TBH Figma annoys me the same way, especially since I despise Haruhi and all their variants of that series. But at least Figma have other figures along with the variants they pump out such as Figma Aigis, Meiyo, Makina and Drossel. It's like they are reaching out to hardcore fans and people who want variety.

I said "wins the game" because GSC between Figma and Nendoroid (And possibly the new Actsta series), along with DannyChoo's growing popularity are at the top of the figure food chain.

Yeah, no more exclusive (expensive) re-paints, now those are really annoying. Give us wave 11 NAO!!!

I expect there's a number of issues involved, including trying to squeeze additional money out of the existing molds. The global economy is really not great right now, but there is some expectation that it will improve by the end of the year. There may not be much desire to release new product right away if it's going to mean a lot of stock laying around without selling. The current sale seems to be aimed at clearing out old MMS1/2 stock, which may indicate the same thing.

The wave 11 figures were the violin and guitar, with lights, right? In addition to making the new figures more expensive (thus, slower sellers), this may have introduced some awkward engineering difficulties, or there may be some problems involved with the new MMS3 framework, which we haven't seen used in a production 'heavy' armor figure yet (and wave 11 seemed to have some very heavy armor).

I don't find either Afrika Korps Mel or Night Flight Asuka especially compelling, myself. Especially not as limited-run items. (Mel's a mild temptation as a possible base for Ft Bragg, though.) Anyway, this, too, will pass. And, in the meantime, I can indulge other hobbies or just save the money.

I can understand what you're saying. It doesn't seem like the Japanese are suffering much from the giant robot spider or that huge gundam they made though. But I don't know about their current situation with the economy. It's just so frustrating thinking wave 11 is next then it ends up just a lame repaint.

To be honest I'd consider buying a Zyrdarya, Vespelio and Graffias repaint.

Probably neither the spider nor the Gundam are money making propositions in the first place. As publicity stunts, they may actually function better right now than in better times. I think we'll probably see Wave 11 late this year or early next. The old stock should be cleared out, and, hopefully, the economy will finally start improving.

'Til then, patience!

(I understand your frustration, though. I was ready to lay down cash a year ago last May for an item that was announced over a year and a half before that. It might finally be available in the first half of next year. And that's in an industry making money hand over fist lately.)

Pls to not be talking about things you not be knowing vocaloid.

Bandai's giant gundam thing was a 30th annaversery thing thats been in progress for the better part of ohh, 3 years now.

They have less new kits announced this year than in any time in the last 10 years, and what "new" kits are showing frequently re use whole sprues of older kits (the EWAC ZAK for example would have cost less than 1/2 the price of a new kit to develop, but is sold at a price point well in excess of the HIZAK it was based off, or all those versions of the ahead from seed, which are at heart major modifications of last years' enact custom or the HI NU or HWS NU both of which reuse the entire Nu gundam)
Also Bandai's use of vaccum metalized parts and ABS in kits has plumeted.

Tomy takara has outright cancelled the zoids rebirth lines with a sever releases and new zoids completed, announced and now to be unreleased

Zee japanese toy companies are undoubtedly doin it hard right now. But they are also doin it smart, so when times are better we can still get cool stuff.
