Ah! Nang Nak! Yeah, i've heard about it a long time ago. She's pretty much like "Si Manis jembatan Ancol" (The beauty from Ancol Bridge). But the difference is, this Ancol Bridge ghost is a girl who got raped, traumatized & commited a suicide by jumping off, well, the Ancol Bridge. Since then, she haunts the Ancol Bridge & seduce any male-soon-to-be-victim.bang04 wrote:In Thai, we have very popular ghost story too, Mae Nak Phra Khanong

Re: Your Local Ghost/Mystical creatures/stories
For Ottawa, Canada I have two personal experiences
1) Shadow figure in a dark hallway in a two-story apartment. One night I was going to the living room and walked into, or near, a shadow figure causing me to hide in my bed like a coward. Creeped out so badly I can still remember it to this day. Been years ago....2003 or 2004 or so.
2) Hearing Native Indian or bango drums being banged on in a park named "Mud Lake" in Ottawa. It seemed out of place and kept on going until me and a friend made a sound. It was being played on until I made a sound to some hikers in that park. It was around 2004 or so.
-------
Also, there is a landmark in Ottawa that is haunted by old founders of the city at the old building next to the Rideau Locks.
- Bytown Museum -> http://goo.gl/maps/UAbvE - Weird banging, lights fixtures moving, things rattling, and computers spamming names of old founders. Also loud walking on stairways.

Re: Your Local Ghost/Mystical creatures/stories
Recently, i bought a book. "Indonesian Ghost 101" or "101 Ghost/mythical creatures of Indonesia". But i found something interesting: Nyi Blorong / madame Blorong. Think about a Lamia, a female with a serpent body from her waist downwards, but with ancient Javanese outfit. Maybe Lamia is inspired from this? Or vice versa? I dunno.

Re: Your Local Ghost/Mystical creatures/stories
well, Lamia could just be another coincidence, mermaids were spread wide throughout folklore in places with seemingly no conection so I wouldn't be to sure one inspired another
