Euro Truck Simulator 2

Post by ArcticKitsune » Thu Feb 27, 2014 7:08 pm

Heyo! I'm wanting to pick this up as much as Flight Simulator so I'm wondering if anybody here wants to give it a go? I'm still trying to get it to run smoothly so shall be a bit. Anybody want to join up and share their journey across Europe? Maybe even across America when that comes out? Join up!

I'm trying the demo so I started off Slovakia, Bratislava. I'm going from loving that Bratislava is in to hating how they designed it to going back to being impressed when seeing the castle in the downtown area. I wish I could go on the main street and past the palace....I wonder if the studio is shitting on Slovakia because they think they're all that or similar.

Then my monitor cut out, forcing me to reformat now.

I might be tempted to get it at some point, but I need a new wheel stand for my Logitech G27.

I would highly recommend a wheel and a strong computer. I can run it on mine on a fresh install but it's just brutal when you get into the higher detail city areas. I need to upgrade my comp to use Windows 7.

------

- Session 2 - Bratislava to Vienna.

Chose Bratislava as my starting point as I'm supposed to be familiar with that area. I wanted to see Bratislava up close. The best place to see it is on the bridge heading towards Vienna through that tunnel that leads into the rich-home district that I've been to before. That's not in the game as everything is however condensed so you only have the tunnel heading to Vienna.

(This bridge is the best place to view downtown Bratislava from the bridge. It fails to take advantage of the UFO bridge.)

Image

(This bridge between the Bratislava lumber yard and the downtown area is notorious for traffic jams.)

Now I want to upgrade my computer to run this thing. For those fearing they can't play it long term can rest assured that you can level up RPG style, hire NPC truckers, a Multiplayer mod being added, and to install various mods to add more maps.

I just got the first game in a Humble Bundle, but I've been looking at it for some months. What I'd really like is a japanese version with deco trucks, and an Optimus Prime to boot! But I'm eager to try out the famous autobahns in eye candy graphics.

I checked out to see if there was anything Japanese related mods and found the Deko buses you mentioned, Shiaoran. Quite neat and fancy.

-------

I caved and bought ETS2 after wanting to play the demo. If I was going to have fun with the demo I might as well purchase the game so I can at least progress properly. The progress you make in the demo carries over into the main game. My computer can barely run it nicely....up until I get to Prague or any other "major" city. Bratislava is awesome, but I'm annoyed you stay on the outskirts of that city. You can't get into the main town nor the touristy area. Was quite enjoyable also listening to the "Fun Radio (SK)" while on the road. Yes, you can import your own music or listen to the radio stations they give you.

-> Bratislava -> Budapest -> Vienna -> Prague.
(Rained on me in Budapest.)

I also bought my own truck in the main game.

I love this game and the scenery. Love the attention to detail to Slovakia, but pissed I can't go next to the touristy area, nor on the UFO bridge. I want to travel on that bridge! I'm also happy I have my own truck now to free-roam with. Now the fun in building and customizing everything. I need to now focus on paying off my loan, hiring new guys, and to continue on forward.

I completely forgot about mods XD
But there's no thing like the original thing, so I still want to see a japanese version.
Care to share the links to the mods? Any Optimuses Primes? XD

Looking at comparisons, I'm feeling inclined to skip the first game and get the second one.

@Shiaoran: - Here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cuiv8hxrk3A

---------

I purchased the Ice Pack and gave my lovely truck a lovely snowflake theme. I screwed up a route delivery by missing a turn forcing me to go through Prague then to Linz. A car wouldn't allow me to back up and take the proper turn. The rest was perfect. It's neat listening to "Fun Radio" from the Slovakia radio playlist.

- Route:

- Free Roamed: Bratislava -> Brno -> Vienna.
- Deliveries: Bratislava -> Katowice -> Linz -> Frankfurt -> Paris through Reims.

Just need a few more thousand Euros, more jobs, and I can buy a new truck for an AI driver to do jobs with. I'm still in love with this game so shall keep playing it until I feel that burn out.

More images of my trucking company named "WhiteFox" growing steadily and gradually! Managed to pay my in-game loan off that allowed me to purchase my truck. Now to focus on upgrading the truck and to hire more NPC folks. My truck is apparently a Volvo FH16 Classic Sleeper.

Today's Runs: Paris -> Reims -> Frankfurt-> Dortmund -> Metz-> Amsterdam. Went through Luxembourg twice.

Fun fun! This game surprisingly heals any stressed and similar. I love trucking with "Fun Radio", even though I do hear repeat tracks on there.

Speaking of music, I wonder if a convoy can be made, with C. W. McCall's Convoy playing as custom soundtrack, no less ;)
