kintaro's shinkis

Re: kintaro's shinkis
A few days later. Greta came to remind me that I have a chair to finish.
Time to do the padding.
Helping me prepare the pieces:
"Here, Master!"
A short break to look at the result:
"Master, are you sure this tape is enough?"
"Well... no, but this is just to hold it together until it gets upholstered."
"This is the last piece, right?"
Having a bit of trouble sliding it on...
Almost there...
"Phew! We're finally done!"
"So, how is it? Are you comfortable?"
"Hmmm..."
"Master, I think this back padding is a little too thin."
"Yeah... I think you're right. Looks like it stretched and got thinner when I rolled it."
Off to find something thicker for the padding. To be continued...

Re: kintaro's shinkis
A couple of days and a padding replacement later. Time to finish this thing.
"So, how is it?"
"Better..."
"This could be tighter."
Greta is a bit of a perfectionist.
And so it is finally done.
"Seriously Master, what's with the baby colors?"
"Well, you are the baby of the gr.. um, never mind. Would you rather wait for me to find eyeglass wipes in some other colors?"
"Let me think about it..."
She's been waiting for this chair long enough already.
"I decided!"
"I'll take it!"
Patricia and Mana happened to pass by.
"Where are your manners?! Did you even say thanks?"
"But I'm... Well... You know..."
"Master, while I do acknowledge the need for creature comforts for some, I am concerned that our battle readiness suffers as a result."
"So you're saying I should stop making furniture and start making weapons?"
"Well, if one were to put it bluntly, yes."
Later that day.
"Hey, what are you still doing here? I thought you'd be enjoying your new chair... Oh, I see. Thanks for helping with the clean up!"
"Clean up? Master, I don't know what you're talking about?"
"Well, that."
"Oh, you mean THAT? You got the wrong idea! That was just in the way so I... You know?"
"Thank you anyway."
"Umm... Master? I mean... Thank you... for the chair."
"You're very welcome."
So Greta has her own chair now and the "high ground" she wanted. Whether that alone will help her win any arguments with Patricia remains to be seen.
(It also became painfully obvious to me that Patricia's chair is in need of a major upgrade.)
Most of the time their arguments end amicably though...

Re: kintaro's shinkis
Cute chair, look so comfortable.
Re: kintaro's shinkis
Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later...
I called her Jenn.
Mana as a fellow Frontline girl leads the welcoming committee.
"Well, go on, say hi to them."
"..."
"Master, something appears to be wrong with her speech interface?"
"I-I don't know... what I am supposed to say... S-Save me, Master!!"
Oh dear. And I thought my Yuki was shy...
Some time later when she finally calmed down.
"Are you all right, Jenn?"
"Y-Yes, I think so..."
Lesson learned: too big a welcome can be overwhelming.
About to go to sleep for the first time at her new home.

Re: kintaro's shinkis
So Jenn has been gradually settling in.
Girls showed her around the place.
"We can hang out here too."
"But... isn't Master using this?"
"Nah, I-I'm sure he won't mind!"
"This is the designated area for combat training and live fire exercises."
"We practice here too!"
"Come train with us!"
"B-But my armor isn't even unpacked yet..."
"We'll help you unpack it!"
"How can you call yourself a Busou Shinki if you are not prepared for battle?"
"I... I will join you."
Way to rope in a new recruit, girls.

Re: kintaro's shinkis
Nice. Hope her hesitation in combat don't have bad consequence. Reluctant shinki usually under perform below their true abilities.

Well, there is no "combat" per se in our household. I don't think anybody told Jenn about that yet though...Zenislez wrote:Nice. Hope her hesitation in combat don't have bad consequence. Reluctant shinki usually under perform below their true abilities.
