Armor Girls Project: Infinite Stratos (& Mobile Suit Girls)

For discussion of all the other girl+mecha lines that have cropped up since Shinki began: Frame Arms: Girls, Megami Device, Armor Girls Project, Desktop Army, etc. This includes kinda-sortas like Daibadi's Polynian and things like Strike Witches and Fumikane's original Mecha Musume.

Got an AGP fig of Cecilia Alcott x Blue Tears recently. It's my first AGP, and while it looks nice, I'm not too satisfied with the quality when it comes to putting it together and adjusting poses.

The extension pieces to make those little flaps look like they're flying are rooted on flimsy links. You have to be really, really, really steady and patient with it, because if it so much as wiggles, something's bound to fall off.

If you want to change the pose, you either have to dismantle the wing parts or wait for something to fall off. The positioning is also hindered by the hair, which even as an alternate is severely limiting.

My MSG Wing Gundam has arrived.

While the adaptor hardpoint that allows her to use the Robot Damashii EW Wing Zero wings is nice, her own parts don't snap together too well and the hands keep falling off.

Plus, two face parts with a side glance is not fun. It limits the number of workable pose positions.

Function-wise, Bandai's AGP people should take a cue from Masaki Apsy's handiwork or develop a compact and easily managable PVC joint system like with regular Gunpla.

Thanks for sharing :) Mine will be in later this week so I'll post my thoughts on her then.

As it is, I've cancelled my preorders for the AGP Strike Witches because I have decided I don't need two sets of witches after all, even with the cool effects parts. I'll just wait for the figma releases on those.

Hands falling off just reminds me of the issues with my BRS figma. -.-; Her sword hand refuses to stay in/on, I had to white tack it in.

Once you get yours, check the Buster Rifle: It has a connector for the wrist hardpoint slot. That's how bad the hands are when it comes to holding stuff.

It would be understandable for heavier weapons, but this one is so light that it's not even funny.

I thought at first that I could lend her Wing Zero's Twin Busters (which are of even lesser weight as separate units), but the hands won't let me. >_<

Wow, that's pretty bad. =X I guess I won't be posing her too much then once she's set up. Oh well, still excited for her.

I just got mine in, and yeah. I can echo the bit about the hands falling out really easilly, especially when armored up. The front, armored head piece doesnt want to stay in either, although I think that might be because I used the other back of the head.

I DO like how the skirt and and upper body armor is designed in general. It's hinged so you dont need to remove pieces to hook them on, and gives it a bit of an 'armoring up' feel, but both pieces dont really connect well to the body. The upper armor requires the wings to hold it in place, and the skirt armor is only attached by one peg. They're both kind of floppy when attached. There's some nice chroming there, though. Not much, but enough to really stand out.

Dont know if it was just a bad batch, but she reeked of that soft plastic smell, and was almost greasy to the touch. Hopefully that isnt a wide spread issue.

Wash with warms soapy water. That is mold release. I hope you washed your hands after handling her before you handled anything else.

Only greasy parts here were her shoulder parts for me, but they didn't smell thankfully :)

I swear she'd never be able to hold this gun up if it didn't snap into her wrist guard. Still, she's very nice and I like her size. The armor design is clever but I don't like how the shoulder pieces sit, they render her arms almost unmovable once armored up. The stand is nice and big, but it doesn't seem to be able to support her weight for any flying poses on mine. Did anyone have to tighten the screws on theirs to get it to hold?

Some quick crappy pics

I did, but it didn't do much good.

In the end, I also had to borrow the RD Wing Zero's stand arm. They're pretty much the same anyway.

If Bandai wants more people to patronize the AGP Mobile Suit Girls line, they should put in a little more effort. It's not total crap by any means, but the production quality feels rushed compared to their other products.

Wow. So many complaints about MS girls? O_O; I hope the Infinite Stratos & Strike Witches won't be that "bad"...

Aside from that, i can asure you fellas that the Haruhi Composite is the best product as far as i know.

Imho anyway.
