[Flight Sim] - Flight Sim X & X-Plane

Post by ArcticKitsune » Wed Apr 20, 2011 2:12 am

Article aimed at me, Nas, Mikuo, and anybody else interested in flying. Maybe the lurkers that haven't registered? I also apologize if I'm raiding the forum, just trying to stir up convo' in my way :P.

---

Install both Service pack patches then install these planes, if interested. Also, FSHost because Microsoft can't make proper server.

For those interested:
- For those that have FSX, or previous Flight Sim games, lets do a flight on the weekends? Any time using FSHost while simply flying about without airport warping. Just choose an airport and we airport hop.

IP? Will figure out on Friday or Saturday. Doubt anybody will come but was worth sending invites out. If you're confused then speak up on here or my twittah - Arctic_Kitsune. :P.

Really? Sweet! Well, guess I'll be hosting as I brought it up lol. We'll see if I can even host this on FSHost.

------

IP: - >Placeholder< (Need to test FSHost server and test fly a plane).

Download both service packs for the add-on planes and then FSHost so we can play without Microsoft randomly booting us.

Also, feel free to download these two planes to see me fly it in my Canadian Pride :P.

- Plane:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/news46/2234141961/

-> A380 - Air Canada - Canada theme:
http://simviation.com/1/download?file=A ... leId=36305
(30 min to download.)

-> A321 - Air Canada - Canada theme:
http://simviation.com/1/download?file=A ... leId=36306
(5 min to download.)

I need to test the planes so I might remove if they're not high quality. Happy Flying! (Check back here or cbox for IP.)

I prefer Combat Simulator I think it was? But I haven't played that in ages, I'm not even sure if my joystick still works.

ok! i managed to make FSX work better than i have expected, i even installed the SDKs just in case i want to mod something...

and by better i mean, i enabled DX10 on the simulator and it moved from playable to completely gourgeus!!!

BUT!

the planes i have downloaded that i wanted to use for multiplayer.... well... looks like they were made for DX9 instead so some of them get "deformed" in the process...

examples: of the 3 acecombat related planes i downloaded for fsx, only the "simple" arkbird works perfectly with DirecX10 enabled, the other 2, the falken and the wyvern get transparent and lose its textures respectively.... same thing happens with the monstrous Enterprise D....

so i need to ask a favor to AK or any other one who has FSX installed and a DX10 capable videocard, to see if its possible to check which of the planes you downloaded will work with DX10 enabled and wich ones dont.... to see what can i download to use for multiplayer... thanks in advance!

Carrying over from Cbox:
To those saying they're not interested - "Whatever flies your plane(s)". I'm not forcing anything down your throats. I love FSX just because I traveled a lot and absolutely love seeing planes take off in both the physical and digital realm. You might like the combat realm, good for you, while I prefer both. FSX just gives me more for what I want with the least hassles. I also found add-ons that adds to FSX and the fly-ability portion.

Where's the thrill? Try taking off, keeping the plane stable, and getting it to land professionally. I don't mean unguided landings and such, I mean professionally. Too simple? Add realism and your plane will buckle under the stress lol.

---------------

@halconfenix: Sweet! But sad to see there was a catch to all the good news on your end. I only have DX9 (windows XP), so I can't really tell you. Does the Shinden or any of Tim Conrads (Piglet's) planes work for you? They're at least of top quality. ProjectOpenSky planes, or even the Airbuses I linked. *shrugs*

I'd recommend harassing people on simviation forums or a better flight sim community. They might not answer, but it's worth asking them lol. Hopefully they won't shove a payware plane up your rear end.

Hmm, that sucks. "Right click and save as" right? I tried looking for it but it disappeared on both sites I go to, damn. Was such a good plane as well.

I'd recommend adding scenery as it replaces and enhances airports and such (most of them anyways).

Really? I thought they were pretty low-quality. And don't know how to comment on the DX09 or 10 bit....*speechless*

----------

Note: Flight Saturdays

From the looks of things, it appears there'll be around 4-5 people to join me in FSX lol. I wanted to simply poke but it looks like I'll be flying every Saturdays and Sundays (not always), to various places around the digital world. It would also be done realistically with no sped up time, or slewing. If nobody is on I'll either cancel or fly back and then return to where we finished off.

For those newcomers - Fly from Vancouver to Anchorage before April 30th so we can all meet up in Anchorage. If we're early, just do some flight tests. If you're interested but can't join then say so and we'll continue without you, but you'll have to catch up on your own :P.

Happy flying!

P.S - If this works, I can just imagine what Battle Rondo would be like. Maybe we should Cafe it up every last Saturday's of every month?
