What are the extra parts like Zel's second helmet for?
The manual says something about it.

Thanks. That's kinda nice of them, actually. I've cursed them a couple of times for not making hair and helmet 2 different things where it could easily be done, when I wanted to rearrange a couple of Shinkis' armors (I think it was Proxima and Strarf Mk2).
