The armored feet fit onto a ball joint. No stress marks on mine but the feet were frozen in place.Benio wrote:Sorry to hear about the poor quality of your Gabrine figures. I am currently waiting for my shipment and would like to know what I need to look for to spot any problems with Gabrine's boots. Is it stress marks? Just a tight joint? Something else? Pics of the problem area would be great too. Thanks.

Havent popped the girls out of the box yet, so I'll have to look out for the possible defect. How did they snap off, exactly? Thin plastic connection between the paws and legs?

Gabrine's paws were stuck in place on mine, too. Given the paws are soft plastic, one method for unsticking would be to let the paws soak in hot water for a little bit, to soften the paws and unstick them.
However, I managed to unstick them fine by pushing them further onto the ball and trying to move them slowly...

Pretty much. Mine snapped where the connector meets the ball in the paw. I'm guessing what happened is when I tried to loosen them up, instead I caused a stress crack because they were frozen and it was simply a matter of time before they completely fell off.Caterwaul wrote:Havent popped the girls out of the box yet, so I'll have to look out for the possible defect. That gives me an idea. I believe if I can unstick the ball joints, I may be able to repair the boots enough so she can at least stand in them. Thanks, Xehn.Xehn wrote:Given the paws are soft plastic, one method for unsticking would be to let the paws soak in hot water for a little bit, to soften the paws and unstick them.

My Gabrine just came today. I'm actually quite satisfied with the figure. Her right paw was extremely tight and also broke for me but the left one was fine. And other than the one paw she is an excelent figure and I haven't found any other problems. (plus i managed to fix the paw)

I'm quite worried about the quality control now - but the hot water idea should at least solve most of them. I wonder why they're so lax with them now?

in this case, I don't think it's something they can tell in the factory; I think it's the type of plastic used. It just tends to stick in place when left there for a long period of time. The same situation, a stuck joint, would happen with frequency on early McFarlane Halo figures. The wrists would be locked in place when you opened them the first time.

Yep. Just simple cause and effect. Many of the figures have probably been sitting in a warehouse waiting to ship for a couple weeks if not months. Obviously no one is going to recheck them for issues at that point. And while it is somewhat disappointing, Konami's track record remains pretty good. I've never had issues with any of my other figures.Xehn wrote:in this case, I don't think it's something they can tell in the factory; I think it's the type of plastic used. Yeah, her paws have restiffened since they arrived but I don't have to "snap" them free, they are just very tight at first.
