well.... it needs some tweaks here and there but so far i like the final result.

if everything goes as planned i'll be creating a shapeways store for this things (yes, plural, i'll be making several variants), so you all can get yours!

this looks great! a little paint and sanding work and you'll have yourself a showpiece!

although if you're planning to put it on shapeways... won't it be rather expensive, being so big and all?

I know shapeways charges by volume, so make it entirely hollow, possibly with no bottom. But they may also increase the price based on bounding box, I'm not sure... hopefully it turns out relatively cheap. If so I'd probably buy one, since official cradles are far too expensive and my shinkis aren't to happy with the micro-USB charger :P

Good luck, I look forward to seeing a final product!

That's precisely one of the issues i'm having with shapeways, i modified the model to make it as hollow as possible and yet its still above the price of the original cradle (and that's just shapeways price, i havent added the 5-10 bucks i plan to earn from each sold unit)... So i'm Currently working on several variants and see what works better for me...

so then they must calculate based on bounding box as well, since as a hollow model it shouldn't be very much plastic. I would suggest breaking it into smaller pieces and trying to keep things as small as possible, you could try just cutting off the seat back & armrests and doing it in two separate pieces/models for printing, this should significantly decrease the price of the bounding box(es).
