ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Here i go again! I've build quite a few stuff for my shinkis that I think a new thread is inevitable. Here I'll be posting my homemade weapons and accessories (that aren't papercraft) and current works-in-progress.
From my original thread, I've already showcased my past works. So here's what I've been working on now:
Lancamento's gatling gun and a chainsaw. Took these pics this afternoon...
Here's the gatling gun after a bit. All that's left is the paint job. The ammo belt and backpack will come later (once I figure out what stuff to use for the ammo belt).
Lancamento can't wait to try it out.
And before anyone asks about quality, smoothness, why they look shabby and stuff like that, I wanna say that these are all 100% recycled materials! I mean, made out of stuff already thrown away. I use old and damaged dvd cases and plastic containers as replacements for pla plate, old cardboard (what I used on the gatling and chainsaw's bodies) plastic drinking straws, gunpla runners... you get the idea.
The point is, anyone can build stuff like these as long as you put in enough time and effort, regardless of materials used. More importantly, I just want to show off that I'm the type who just makes use of whatever is cheap and available.

Re: ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Liking the gatling gun!
I wish I had some spare kits around that I could butcher for parts for Shinki... sadly the better ideas I have for custom parts involve kits that are kinda hard to get now... (namely Shadow Fox)
Then again, I'm not sure how well the parts would match up to a Shinki body, so I'm probably better off trying to scratch build something like that with other things I have around the place...

Re: ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Meh, work got me delayed for a few days... Finally, an update!
Started working on Espadia's blade lance this morning. I got the inspiration from another mod I saw on the net. But of course, I modified the design to suit my style.
First had to cut out the parts from scrap plastic:
Then, gluing them together...
The long handle was pretty flimsy, so I glued thin clear acetate on both sides for added strength.
Here's Espadia's blade lance after spraying on some light gray primer (80% complete)
There are still some rough edges that need sanding. I plan to do the paint jobs for all my current works at the same time in the future. Up next, a pile bunker!

Whew, two updates in two days!
Here's a familiar pile bunker design (still in the works).
Hopefully, I'll be able to paint my WIP's before the end of the week.

They'll look fab with a coat of paint!
What do you cut the thick plastic with? A dremmel?

Re: ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Believe it or not, it's actually just thick cardboard! Yup, I used cardboard on the main body of the gatling and pilebunker (told you I use whatever's cheap and available). I glued a few pre-cut layers then added detail with a sharp blade and sandpaper (yep, sandpaper). The stuff's actually pretty toughKobold wrote: They'll look fab with a coat of paint!

(2mm thick) and when glued in layers is almost as good as wood... I should know, I've been using that to make weapons for cosplay (1 2 3 4 5). Add a coat of primer and I'm good to go!

Re: ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Just woke up... here's an update.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Gatling Gun
After much deliberation, I decided to just spray it black (multicolored gatling guns are uncommon anyway) cause handpainting something like this would've been a nightmare!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Blade Lancer
Wanted to keep this in Espadia's color scheme. I used a Gundam Marker for the first time and I certainly need more practice using it (used to precision tech pens, but mine have long passed away...)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Pilebunker
Handpainting is a weak point of mine (yeah, yeah, the cross should have been blue, not black... got lazy), but it looks cool!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Not bad for weapons built from stuff people throw away, ne?

Re: ZeroEdge's Custom Weaponry
Done with Howling's giant war hammer (that took a while just to paint ), plus a pair of bladed tonfas.
Cardboard hammer is heavy! Can't pose Howling without using the base.
Blade extends for a surprise attack!
