Ok, I've been thinking about it a while now; I really want to establish a Busou Shinki fictional "company" similar to Frontline or Union Steel, especially since I've been recently sculpting my own Shinki parts. So here's my "official" company name:

And here are a few blueprints straight from R&D that have materialized into prototypes:

Chest / Leg armor

Prototype armaments + original head and hair

Close-up of the parts (guess where the weapon on the far right is from  )

They're obviously all WIP, and I'm trying to figure out how i'll go about producing the different joints as they're quite small...

Cool! What material did you use for those parts?

Wow. That's some talent there. I've always thought that being able to sculpt custom or replacement parts for my stuff would be awesome, but three dimensions seems to be at least one too many for my mind to create with. You, on the other hand, clearly have mastery over both two- and three-dimensional creation. Your concept art is every bit as awesome as your parts. Rock. The ****. On. And be sure to let us know when you pull a FansProject and start being a third-party Shinki producer, because you could totally make a killing.

Thanks guys for the support. If the Japan-exclusive shinki parts can't come to us, we'll have to just make our own!

I used sculpting clay that hardens when baked; something like a harder version of Sculpey.

May be you can use the kotobukiya ball joints:

Or the Hobby Base Ball joints:

Or revoltech joints...

Thanks Solo! Yep, once I finalize all the parts I'll be creating kits for them like a good fictional Busou Shinki company, lol. I'm trying to experiment with translucent/transparent parts.

These are amazing! Thanks ngusano; Kotobukiya has so many useful kits. I might use these for the arms/ankles as I've already started on the knee joint as of the other night.

I've always been incredibly envious of those who are not only able to conceptualize, but also able to sculpt out the finished product.

Amazing work. You've got mad skillz. Can't wait to see how this turns out!

Updates! I've modified the parts to be completely compatible and usable with MMS type 1 bodies, so now the leg can be slipped on, the shoulder armor attached and the chest armor snapped on. It took a LOT of measurements to get right... but it was all worth it.

The knee joint is coming along nicely, although the two parts are not yet linked.

Looks like Mao got word of the initial testing and rushed over to Zel:
