As promised, more stuff related to the gatling. This one's a doozy!
The beginnings of the gatling on paper. Everything I do is planned as best as I can.
Image

With everything on paper to scale, I figured I put Lynnette there as a reference.
Image

But I wasn't pleased so a ruler and her hand holding out to where the estimated height of the gatling when standing should be.
Image

When built from aluminum and brass rods, it was rather heavy. Maybe too heavy for MIkuru.
Image

The poor girl deserves a break.
Image
Image

PLAN B! Plastic. This was taken after the plastic pieces were already glued and primered.
Image

All painted and the shaft in place. The gatling is like that so the glue could dry without seizing the barrels from rotating.
Image

A miniature electric motor for use on model railroads and two mags later, the gatling is almost finished.
Image
Image

Now the backpack was made to hold "the battery" and nine mags.
Image
Image

Two straps later and some sanding and painting, as well as making the cord from the backpack to the gatling, the thing is finished!!!!!!

Tomorrow, pics on my newest project.

Nice; looks like something out of WH40k. However, won't all the metal make it rather heavy?

Crap. Captions should of been added. The gray one became the gatling since the brass, aluminum got heavy REAL fast. Hence poor Mikuru's reaction. It was a commishioned piece but when I told the guy the price, he more or less freaked out. Now, IT'S ALL MINE!!!!!!!!!! }:>

Ah, that makes sense. So, do the barrels actually spin off the motor? That's a really neat touch.

Nobody remembers the original gatling guns anymore, it seems. :p

Mikuru would only be able to use that thing if it was on a tripod. Poor girl just can't get a break with all the witches and shinkis around.

Nope. It freely spins for stop motion purposes.

I'd make one if I had some wagon wheels. As noted, this was for a client but when I gave him the total price, he dropped the commission which was okay by me because I hated to see it go anyway. I know gatlings eat a lot of ammo real fast. So with that in mind and pretending like the thing is real for some reason, each mag has say 40 rounds of .45 cal and there are ten of them. As for poor MIkuru, in my story idea, she is the reluctant soldier. Now, onto my newest project. The Striker carriages from Strike Witches.

40 rounds in the mag? Considering even the 1870's gatling guns could fire 200 rounds per minute, even via simple gravity-fed mechanisms, they're gonna need to change mags everytime they fire off a burst. Good luck with logistics! (Haha.)

The carriage looks great. Which also reminds me I still haven't given you the blueprints for the landstriker project. Whoops. :fortbragg:

From a real world point of view, it's impractical but from a stop motion point of view, the imagery will be awesome!

And it's time for an update! :headbang: A really big one! Again.

The carriage went through multiple coats of paint and spot putty to smoothen it out. When that was done, I painted the inner portion a dark gray.
Image
Image

With that done, I started to build the weapon storage rack.
Image
Image

A dry run to see if the gun can fit in there.
Image

A run to see how the slide will work and see how the gun fits. After a few adjustments, I say it looks good.
Image

A shot of the gun on the slide within the box.
Image

A few shots of the doors being open and close.
Image
Image

The rack looks good on the carriage. I just need to paint it.
Image

Flight Sergeant Yoshika Miyafuji! Ready to go!
Image

A shot of a box that is in the show but that was it.

More updates at work continues.

that's incredible! are you planning to make a couple of these? they look great! will the gun hold be able to hold all the different guns or will each gun require slight modification?
