Dabadi's Polynian "Clover"

So, a week ago, I got an email from AmiAmi saying that "(my) preorder was ready to ship!"

...to which I said "Um...what preorder..?" =O.o=
Image
My "surprise" (more like "forgotten") preorder, Clover from modelling circle Dabadi's "Polynian" line of cute robot girls (etc.), arrived Friday. This shot is simply an intro pic, but it also illustrates what may be the figure's sole real shortcoming: what you see here is ALL she comes with. No alternate faces, no gripping hands...she's lucky she's so damn cute.
Image
What could be a shortcoming is actually a benefit: her facial expression is generic enough that it fits many different poses and situations. Still, I hope someone on Shapeways makes some more expressions for her or something.
Image
Do she got da booty?
=<.<=
=>.>=
SHE DOOOOOO.
Image
The other really surprising thing about her was how TINY she is...for comparison, here she is alongside my "Officer" Howling, Renge, and OTFCC's Trans-Mutate, a redeco of Transfomers Prime "First Edition" Arcee.
Image
All-in-all, I like her a lot, although that's admittedly largely due to my love of cute robot girls. She feels light but sturdy, she can hold poses well despite having only friction joints, and she looks good in my collection. I wouldn't go out of my way to get her unless she meets those criteria for you, as well, but she's an excellent initial piece for what I'm hoping is a full, ongoing line.

Something to note is that her joints (sans wrists, which are slightly smaller) are close enough in size to revoltech and figma joints that some parts swapping is possible!
Much like Figma, her face is actually a separate piece from the core of her head... If you can find something with the same shape, you might be able to find faces she can use...

I like Clover a lot. If more figures happen in PVC (there are a LOT in resin form, like Clover and her 'brother' Shamrock started as) that I like the look of, I'll be interested.

Shamrock is her BROTHER!? No, no, no, Shamrock is an A-cup android... Oh wait, there's a bulge on Shamrock's... Pardon my intrusion.

Pft, robots have no need for gender conformity. I could probably swap his and Clover's lower halves and make an A-cup gynoid and an intersexed model, they look similar enough in the photos. Modular parts, baby!

...seriously, I actually do want to get Shamrock, if only for swapping the cat ears and that hilarious grin he's sporting.

Dem hips....

Smaller then an MMS 3rd Small is pretty small indeed.

I think this line ended up more popular than daibadi expected... Almost immediately after Clover's release, a rerelease preorder went up... Which can only mean good things.

I decided to give that a test.
Image
The results were...somewhat mixed.
Image
Drossel's head was noticeably larger than Clover's, but otherwise the only real "issue" was the skin color, which barely shows in these pics; Drossel is a flat, bright white, while Clover's has a marked violet tinge to it.
Image
Still, with Clover's..."meatier" proportions, scale wasn't as much an issue as I first thought.
Image
If anything, Clover might have problems getting her body back from Drossel...
Image
She DID, however, allow her fellow head-swappee to spring a little "surprise" on her wives, though...Drossel-1 seems a bit startled, but Scarlet seems to already be contemplating the possibilities.

Clover looks good! I'm hoping I can find her somewhere in Singapore.

Maybe ToG (which has replaced Comics Connection) can help me order one.

Of course, while disassembling the previous shoot, I just HAD to get my other two Figmas, Misaka and Kuroko, in on things.
Image
Image
Interesting note: the ball joint that plugs into the neck holes is much larger on Clover, so, in order for Misaka to not look like a turtle with a collapsed spine or something, I had to keep it mostly out of the socket. With the right camera angles, though, you can't really tell.

She...kinda looks like a lewd Imperial Stormtrooper, huh?

A last shot of the Tokiwadai girls and Clover. Not sure where else to put it, so hey...
