I think I've just one thing to add, about Rihito... While I do believe the series would most likely have been better without seeing him, he's not as much of a tool as you could believe. Just look at him running around when he believes that Ines is in danger, or when Ann is on the verge of shutdown. That, and how devastated he gets when he realized he forgot his shinki back home. While he's a bloody moron most of the time, I don't agree with calling him a tool.

Funny thing is, I could see myself behaving the same way given the same circumstances (well, except the forgetting the girls at home part and the shipping of Lene and Ines in boxes part, that's just ridiculous). So yeah, that dude is alright in my book.

Won’t they have a command to stop operation for a while ? Can be used for running maintenance routine too. Should be enough to give time for privacy.

Considering Rihito's role or rather, lack of in the anime, I think they never should have detailed his face and instead leave him faceless like most of the other Shinki masters in the anime.

I think some people just wouldn't care if they were around. i know some couples that have dogs around...ALL THE TIME... it would weird me out, but it might not others. Not much different than your computer to a degree..

As for shinkis HELPING.. that is already covered in graphic detail in dark seedy areas of the interwebs...
