Direct Compatibility no, however they can be modified into fitting together.

Not entirely true. the 1/100 Gundam Exia kit's legs fit without any modification in the slightest.

Most Gundam parts don't fit directly onto Shinkis, but most (especially the 1/144 HG line) are very easily modifiable to fit. I'm presuming the pictures you saw were ZeroEdge's work; he has a thread in the Show & Tell section that includes a few brief tutorials on how to do basic modifications.
