Need help translating (mms dorothea)

Post by time_capsule » Fri Apr 15, 2011 7:21 am

Hi, as mention in the subject, I need help translating an instruction sheet from a figure I bought.

This figure was bundled with a doujinshi by CHOCO, its head can be use on an mms body like the white lion.

However as this figure was released before the white lion, it doesn't have mms joint on its neck.

I can't just chop her head out, so can someone please translate the instruction for me. Thanks

We all know that it can be done, but how exactly? I might purchase her in the future as well and it would be helpful to anyone who stumbles across this thread to share how you did it. I'll see if anyone from the Japanese community would translate though, yet another of the multitude of reasons I should be taking actual Japanese classes instead of self studying :/

Mikuo Hatsunes way of getting Dorothea on an MMS

1stly , Stuff I used ( you don't need all of it really )

Image

A - Pliers and Wire Cutters (not needed so much)
B - Powered Hand Drill and a 5/32 Drill Bit OR equivalent drill bit thats the same thickness as the Shinki Sprue connectors ( [big] IMPORTANT[/big] )
C - The Shinki connector sprues ( need a long piece for the head )
D - A 'sharp' scalpel knife/hobby knife and some Files (the knifes needed the most)
E - Spare bodies to put her Dorotheas head on ( MMS3rd Naked Ver4 Skin Tone suits her most )
F - Kos Mos to laugh at you incase you hurt yourself ( not needed )

alright finely cut Dorotheas head off with the Scalpel knife ABOVE the Choker

Image

then with your drill , drill in the middle around 3mm

now onto the head
you're going to have to cut off all that plastic from the rest of her neck which is moulded on to the bottom of the head , might need to use the wire cutters and pliers to cut and pull away the plastic , however its probably better to cut bit by bit away with the hobby knife
Image
Red line shows the area your going to cut within and sort of crater it cause you also have to take into consideration the neck piece of the shinki to have room to move around in
light blue line is the parts of hairpiece I had to cut off to make the fitting on more better as it sort of collides into the left side of the MMS back

Image

as I've mentioned you need to crater it sort of like how most Shinki heads are so it looks sort of natural to put on , after you feel like you've got a nice crater and it looks alright , drill into her head around 7mm , then cut off 1cm from the Shinki connector sprue and use the files to thin it down as theyre abit thick for MMS 3rd necks

if you're fine with the measurements on BOTH Dorotheas Body and the MMS body you're using , glue the end of sprue you're going to shove into Dorotheas head and wait for it to dry ,

and then you can have Dorotheas head on an MMS and any Shinki head on Dorotheas body

since Dorotheas Hair piece is like Altlene , its pretty much impossible to put her with armour which requires the back piece

Image

Image

anyway , enjoy , I'll answer further questions and might improve the instructions , I do plan on buying another Dorothea (after trying her with a Murmeltier body) so I might do the tutorial again from scratch

Continuation of my last tutorial
==================================================================================================================
for now the Hobby Knife is most important for the next few steps
Image
like in my last tutorial , above the choker
Image
Image
something to take note of is the seam line , every part of the neck before this seam line you cut off
Image
keep cutting :P , you may need to use pliers and wire cutters to get extra bits out
Image
till you get something like this ^
then cut a long piece of Shinki Runner/Sprue and get a drill bit of similar width (used 1/8width)
also file down the Shinki Runner/Sprue down and test if it fits nicely in MMS 3rd necks
Image
Image
like so^ (ALSO TAKE NOTICE I HAVE CUT PART OF HER HAIR , THIS WILL MAKE IT MUCH MUCH EASIER FOR HER TO SLIDE IN SHINKI NECKS AND MOVE AROUND CAUSE THAT PARTICULAR PART COLLIDES WITH THE BACK OF YOUR SHINKI )
then with your Shinki Runner
Image
place it in and try to get a good length of the Shinki Sprue/Runner and try it with other bodies
if you're satisfied with it , glue one end of the runner and shove it into her head

and Voila
Image
all good

my 8th Murmeltier candidate

Cool tutorial! That info will surely come in handy if I ever choose to mod a different figure's head into an MMS body (looks at Haruhi and Mio figures...), nah, 1/8 scale, too big :P
