Identifying Dengeki Ltd. Maochao

Post by Svengaard » Tue Nov 09, 2010 6:42 am

I've kind of been out of the hobby for a little while and am going through my old collection. I've found that somehow I ended up with two different printings of the Limited Edition Dengeki Maochao model.
The two Maochos themselves are very similar, but there's some odd differences.

Figure A:
Has 15th Anniversary Dengeki printed on the top right of the package.
The cat fist weapon has an angryish face: wide mouth, sharp teeth, white eyes with no pupils.

Figure B:
Does not have Dengeki printed on the top right of the package.
The cat fist weapon has a happy face: looks like it's sticking its tongue out and has black eyes.

So I'm wondering which one was released first and which one might be more rare. I'd like to find this out because finances are tight and I'm thinking of selling my Limited Edition collection.

Well, they're both rare, and as far as western collectors go, there's no distinction between them that I've seen. What it IS, is one was released through Dengeki Hobby, and the other through Konamistyle.

I believe the angry face variants (there's one of both Mao and How) were the Dengeki variants, and the printing on the package of your Mao seems to agree with this.

Thanks, I wasn't really sure which was which.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks they'll be considered a little less rare;)
