is it just me being too sensitive or does 573 been concentrating a bit too much on japanese set?
with all the wooden sword that deals more dmg than the already over used kendo stick and the 2h great sword that have high dmg/ high acc/ x3 hit/ high stun/ high down/ + high dmg range skill -_-
sometimes i feel other sets are being disregarded (*my main's juvisy, plant type)
been seeing everyone with japanese sets and princess dresses around each and every battle...... (non-class C)
all they need now is a high movement speed set for japanese and no one will ever need to get any other types of items

Don't forget about the Shinkenmaru swords that were added a few updates back as well. They're the red swords that give you a strong attack skill when you equip 2 of them.
It does seem that the Japanese sets are good to stick with. I'm doing pretty well working with the armor from Asuka's, Benio's, and Fubuki's sets. I have a decent chance at getting S-rank once I'm done with the proper range training. The thing that I'm really missing is something equal to Arnval's Hyper Blast, so my long range choices are pretty weak.

I agree, it's extremely overused and unoriginal. almost all the players are in fubuki/mizuki/benio/asuka gear with Japanese combo, and I know, it works quite well and all, but it's soooo freaking boring fighting 101 clones every day. I rejoice every time I fight someone who actually uses something original, and by original I don't mean a slight moderation of the ONE set up that everyone uses. I hope that as more characters get thrown into the mix more set types get some powerful gear that can at least stand up to the Japanese set. Plant and Insect definitely need more love.

Well you know, mecha is very abundant also. The main issue with it is that basically each of the girls that have mecha sets just have 1 or 2 useful pieces in that set, so the only people who really do well with mecha sets are rich people! Like for a maneuverability set, you need Arnval's boosters, Eukrante's waist, Ach's legs, and Tsugaru's feet. Other highlights for mecha sets are like Ianeira's harp weapon, Strarf's armor is used for those high defense/damage resist setups, and Valona's darn tail. Oh boy, I hate those counter types that use Valona's tail.
I know that Altlene's gear is mecha, but I still haven't really compared it with older armor, and I haven't fought very many Altlenes.
I think 573 should change some of the equipment traits to the nothing (無) type. The sets like police, Chinese, and teacher are useless for getting the coordinate bonus. I know there are some sets that are specifically involved in some achievements though (like gamble, cooking, and cheerleader), so changing those to the nothing type can't be done. And when I think about it, the teacher and cheerleader sets probably could have just been put into the school category.
I guess when you look at the girls who aren't in the game, there's a big issue with what type 573 should make them. Should the beetle girls and Graffias be mecha or insect? Insect would add more variety to the game, but the armor is really more mecha-like. As it is now, the game is basically dominated by Japanese, mecha, and a little bit of military.

Well, I think the major reason for the high appearance of wooden sword and Altrene set is because they are "new" in the BR.
But yeah, if you look at the ratio in recent year, main stream is None, Macha, Japanese, Mission, Mid-age, Funny. Most of the time Cheerleading and Magic are for SP training (hardcore players).
As you may not believe it. Chinese and Western used to appear in BR as SP mobility build and dual peace bringer damage build quite a few years back. But as time moves on, you can tell that 573 stop putting attention toward sets such as gamble, teacher, nurse, etc. (But then again, to 573's defense, they tried with animal, pirate, insect, western -- mostly with weapons, however.)
Much to my dislike, here is my point of view on this: "Battle Rondo focus on battles - whatever it takes to win, is the priority. 573 is a game company - whatever it takes to generate revenue, is the priority."
...In any case, I still like to believe that old saying -- "Busou Shinki has a lot of potentials."

I'm one of the weirdos who uses the Chinese set, and yes it gives you an achievement. I don't mind the new sword and Altlene, in fact I like that they've released something new, it keeps things fresh. I still love playing BR regardless of running into 101 people wearing a slight variation of the same boring thing and using the same attack method. There's always missions and mock battles with friends, among other things. I'm stubborn and refuse to use the clone gear/build to win, I know things will trend one way or another as new things release. I don't really care if they add things that make Insect/Plant/etcetcetc as good as Japanese or better, I just would like to see more released for the sets. There's only one weapon for insect right? The big mantis arms that you need to be S class to achieve? For me it's not about winning, it's about having fun, and I pay money for SPT stuff for that reason. Anyways, if they want to generate more revenue they should think about balancing out the sets so that you don't absolutely HAVE to use Japanese/Mecha/whatever's the best stuff to win, as giving more variety of winning gear would make people spend more no? It doesn't even take much work to figure out what stuff does the job best, you just have to fight some battles and you see everyone using the same stuff and catch on. So what's this dual peace bringer damage build you speak of?

oh hell no... did you even see the new 2h sword (japanese) 's skill power? its a far range with 11 hits(i think) that deals a hell lot of dmg.
and if you have ever dropped to class Ex when ur still not max level, (my tri-diamond flower just missed A by 1 battle and dropped to EX at lv 101) i did see a lot of fun shinkis around. now i really liked to play with her battles since i do not need to see all the wooden sticks with high dodge japanese sets with benio daggers -_-

sry to double post, but i just thought of sth too.
mecha set, sure they become strong with numbers, but they can never be like the japanese set mainly (asuka/benio)
with just those 2 sets, they can get 150+ def and dodge. no matter how i try, its just not really possible to have that kind of stats with mecha.
though so far japanese set just lags shooting 25% down. so usually i shoots them down, but there's always yet another miko stick to counter you till you drop. been so sick with those japanese sets with miko stick and white angel wings -_-

Oh. I was talking about me, personally. With just having the Benio and Asuka sets, there's no good long range. The only combo I can work with is Benio's gun with Asuka's follow-up bombing skill.
And yes...I hate the miko stick. It was probably 100% loss when I encountered a Shinki with one. That's why I really want to get Asuka to S class, so I can be one of those people!

...It's an old build that deals high damage with short pre-attack time and high knock-back.
===== ===== ===== ===== =====
In a way, those 101 equipments/weapons/sets got picked out by the community because they give higher winning ratio due to:
1) Most Shinki can use them and get benefit.
2) Most opponent Shinki can't deal with them.
Basically, a battle is about (Shinki + equipment + stage + luck) vs (Shinki + equipment + stage + luck). Let's say you have a so-so dodge type Tsugaru - chances are that you probably will not win most of the battles with the XMas' battle mode nowadays. And let's say you have a superb dodge type Tsugaru - chances are that you will still facing problem with some of the battles with the XMas' battle mode nowadays, too. The reason is because, many opponents nowadays already have the knowledge and equipment to deal with XMas' battle mode.
In a way, if you think about it, how many players would use the Lv 1 sword when they reached Lv 100 dungeon...?
