Doraemon's much older than Shinki, but it's still going on. It references other stuff all the time, if I recall right.

But just because it looks the same doesn't mean that it will also work the same. Although in this case, it is highly suspicious it WILL work the same way.

And about referencing to other anime, actually it happens almost all the time at most anime or manga (though usually more on comedy or parody genre). For example, only God knows how much Neon Genesis Evangelion being referenced at other anime or manga.
