X-Plane 10

Days ago I just recently bought a new flight simulator, X-Plane 10. Just a brief history lesson, X-Plane was created by Austin Meyers back in 1993. It was only on the Apple Macintosh at the time, and only one plane was selectable: The Piper Archer. 18 years later comes the most recent installment of X-Plane.

Pictured above the is Global edition (which comes with the Global Scenery expansion). 8 discs at a total of 75GB worth of content (the scenery itself is 59.6GB of content).

What I like about X-Plane. Roads are detailed and rendered in 3D, also, railroads are rendered. Along the list also are: power lines, animals, etc.

Anyway, the total cost of buying the game came down to $79.73USD (the game plus shipping). But overall, it was worth it.

Witness how the flight simulator series changed so much ever since Bruce Artwick of subLOGIC released a demo in 1979, which would eventually become subLOGIC Flight Simulator the following year, to Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Acceleration expansion pack.

@Pauldy, You're welcome! And thanks! I really like the Saitek X52 Pro, comes with a cheap price too (about $166USD)!

Also, X-Plane 10 doesn't come with Airbus' by default. Though, add-ons do exist for X-Plane 10, and if you're skilled enough, you can use the integrated Plane Maker program that comes included with it.

*** AIR REFUELING ***
Yes, X-Plane 10 comes with the ability to refuel in mid-air. In this case, I'm using one of the few pre-programmed aircraft situations. The plane I'm flying is a McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, the tanker is a McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender.

This is how Ottawa should look, and how I expect it to look in X-Plane. Sadly, none was added so I'm hoping someone at least creates something of similar awesomeness and detail.

- Found a nice CF-18 via torrent and had to give it a custom sound-pack. I just can't pay for something that feels like freeware while having to give it a sound-pack. It is a beautiful plane however which deserves respect, just not in the form of money.

- Was at a Gatineau Airport airshow in September so I added an add-on in hype.


- Was doing a flight with Leed Bradford Virtual Air and came across a thunderstorm patch a bit outside London.


- Using a CRJ at Amsterdamn - Schiphol Airport. Northwest Airline is in view:

I made 3 attempts at trying to make carrier landings while getting pictures. All these attempts were done in an F-4 Phantom II while in cockpit view. I can make the landing in Forward With HUD view.
