I don't know where something like this should belong, it has text and pictures so I thought Comics would be appropriate. Feel free to move/delete.
Not my story, all rights and whatnot belong to the authors. Original (in Japanese): http://www.geocities.jp/pbhdp751/mibou
Came across it today by accident, made me feel pretty crappy, thought I'd share. Sorry if it ruins your mood.

"Granpa's Shiroko-chan is still moving!"
"Don't play any pranks with her! She was precious to Grandpa."
"Okaay! Bye-bye, Shiroko-chan!"
Small granddaughter pets Shiroko on the head and steps away from the household altar.
Manufactured over 50 years ago, Shiroko's body has already deteriorated and does not move.
All she does is stare into space, leaning on that thing
beside her that "only has Master's name written on it"...
Days go by as she endlessly repeats records of their time together etched into her memory.
She makes a slight sound. One of her CSCs shuts down.
The last of the 3 she had.
Her last word is a sigh full of peace.
Noise runs through the repeating record, it pauses on a close-up of Master's face.
This will do. Using the last of her charge she...
suddenly stands up, as if trying to leap into Master's smiling face awash in glowing colors...
The next day what used to be a Shinki is found lying in front of the altar.
Buried in a colorful candy tin, she is by her Master's side even now.
